Merry Meet and Welcome

The Traditional Gardnerian Wica

The Traditional Gardnerian Wica Logo

For those who have come to this space by chance or on purpose, we bid you welcome in the names of the Ancient Goddess and her consort, the Horned One. This resource is maintained by the Gardnerian Coven of Riverwood, and is sponsored and supported by a variety of covens and individual practitioners collectively known as the Traditional Gardnerian Wica.

Here you may find basic information about the Craft, as well as links to further resources and kindred groups.

About Us

All groups contributing to this effort are traditionally-minded Gardnerian covens, which have been vetted and vouched for. If you are looking for additional vouches you can find resources at Traditional Gardnerian Wica - A Hub for Seekers or Gardnerian Initiates Open Forum for Seekers. You can also find groups, ask questions, and find interaction with Gardnerians on those two sites. This site aims to be a reliable source for those who seek to follow this tradition. There are many paths to many gods. No one forces you to follow any one or another. Many paths are legitimate. This site is for those who focus on one of them. It isn’t just about lineage but also about practice. The Traditional Gardnerian path is not for everyone.

How do I know this is a real Gardnerian website?

You may seek a vouch from other Gardnerian resources, such as the ones listed above, but do not rely solely on word of mouth. Along your search into any spiritual path, we advise you to use common sense in your dealings with anyone in the community, ourselves included. See our Seeker's Guide section for information on red and green flags for both spiritual leadership and covens.

In all situations, do the leg work of reaching out to covens you are interested in to see if they may be the right fit for you and trust your instincts.  The best way to figure out if a group is worth your time and is in alignment with your goals is to reach out to them directly.

Legitimate covens will make themselves available to you but will not chase you down to have you join them.  Traditional Gardnerians, in particular, will expect you to come prepared to work for admittance into their groups and will be looking to ensure you are a right fit for the Craft, as not everyone is.

Communities, whether of Traditional, Inclusive, or general Wicca, have a diverse set of practitioners with a wide range of beliefs on practice and proper conduct, as well as a variety of functions they feel they fulfill.  Make sure that you are seeking out covens that fit your values and needs. And remember, each coven is autonomous and does not speak for the whole.

This resource seeks to shed light on common beliefs, practices, and values shared by the Traditional Gardnerian Wica, but it does not speak for all Traditional Gardnerians.

Thank you, and Blessed Be!
